My Favorite Christmas Movies

Since we are in the Christmas season, we need to to look at the questions that we need to look at for this time of season.  Some are what Christmas truly means or who am I going to get gifts for this Christmas, but most importantly, how much candy am I going to eat before Christmas dinner?  Anyways besides all of these questions being asked, I ask you, what is the greatest Christmas season movie?

That is a question that I have thought about for a while.  They're are many options to think about when looking at the movies, but one thing about Christmas movies is universal feel.  The movies are almost always feel good movies and sometimes just make you laugh. And now on to the list......

1.  Its a Wonderful Life- To me, this is the greatest Christmas movie ever made.  Frank Capra created the single best representation of a Christmas movie in my opinion.  The way in which Jimmy Steward plays George Bailey is fantastic.  I also like the way Lionel Barrymore plays the evil Mr. Potter/  The storyline is fantastic with showing the way in which the world would be different without George Bailey in the world.  It is a great movie that shows the true meaning of why one man, who helps someone out, can make a big difference in the world.

2. Miracle on 34th Street (the original)- This is a great Christmas movie.  The way it plays out is a great way to feel sympathy for the character, Kris Kringle.  The way in which the movie plays out, it helps us understand that sometimes, it isn't what we can tangible see that is real, it is what we feel that is real.  Its a great way to understand the Christmas spirit and what should truly mean to most people.

3. A Christmas Story- This is the funniest Christmas movie that I have ever seen.  This is the story of Ralphie and his quest for his "official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock".  This is truly a Christmas classic with the kid getting his tongue on the pole and Ralphie's father's leg lamp.  This is one that will really make you laugh until the very end.

4. The Santa Clause- This was the first Christmas movie that I ever saw.  I remember watching it at my Grandma and Grandpa's house and loving every minute of it.  The story is one that fits the holiday season.  It shows a Scrooge type of businessman in Tim Allen and how he becomes Santa Claus.  It truly shows how the Christmas spirit can change someone.

5. Scrooged- A modern day A Christmas Carol interpretation and its a good one.  It shows a TV executive (Bill Murray), who has no love for anyone or anything.  He is a self centered person and has no Christmas spirit.  As I said, it is a modern day interpretation of A Christmas Carol and its also a comedy.  It shows how someone can change through looking into oneself.

This is my list of my favorite Christmas movies.  Feel free to leave your favorites in the comments below.
